Nonostante il Kashmir sia una regione montuosa tra il Pakistan l’India e la Cina Robert Plant la scrisse mentre stava guidando attraverso il deserto del Sahara in Marocco, nel 1973.

La canzone sarà poi inserita in Physical Graffiti, album dei Led Zeppelin del 1975.

In questo video – compreso nel CD/DVD Celebration Day – la band la interpreta durante concerto che i Led Zeppelin tennero il 10 dicembre 2007 sul palco della 02 Arena di Londra. Alla batteria Jason Bonham, figlio dello scomparso John.
